Marine Corps Christmas Party

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.    Locally the Marine Corps Reserves worked throughout the last months of the year to make sure no child was forgotten as a selfless act of generosity, even though many of their own children probably would have loved to have received the toys that were given away.

The Wounded Heroes Fund heard that the Marines were going to have a Christmas Party on December 17th and asked permission to sponsor the food and waiters for the event. Being Marines, they worked until 6pm distributing Toys for Tots and then went to their own Christmas Party. To ensure that the children of the Marines could have a happy Christmas, volunteers with the WHF donated new (very nice) toys and distributed them after the Christmas (Turkey, Ham, Potatoes, etc) Banquet was over.

It was amazing seeing all the happy faces, Marines and their families alike were filled with the joy of having a special time where they were blessed with being on the receiving side. The volunteers that helped at the event came from lots of different backgrounds, but each one would agree, it was a special time indeed.
