Fourth Annual Salute to Our Local Heroes

On April 28, 2012, the Wounded Heroes Fund (WHF) will hold our Fourth Annual "Salute to Our Local Heroes" event at the wonderful CSUB Amphitheater.

For the past four years, this event has drawn impressive crowds from our local veteran, military, and civilian communities. Those in attendance have enjoyed a terrific program with great food, and entertainment, but many of our attendees tell us that the most rewarding part of this event can often be just the chance to say, "thank you", to our local heroes. This year's event promises to be as fun and fulfilling as ever!

Local roadway renamed for fallen hero

Patrick and Silver Farr stroll down the street renamed for their son, Clay Patrick Farr.

A roadside bomb killed Farr in February 2006, a week after his 21st birthday. The solider died serving the country he loved.

"When he was finally deployed to Iraq in August 2005 he got over there and he thought he was in Disneyland," Farr's father, Patrick Farr, said.

Farr said he remembers his son running around the Northwest Bakersfield neighborhood as a child playing army with his friends.

"I always used to kid him, if he ever got a little nick or cut he wouldn't bleed blood, he would bleed red white and blue," the elder Farr said of his son.

Salute to Heroes Night with the Bakersfield Condors

On November 12th, 2011 the Wounded Heroes Fund sponsored the event "Salute to Heroes Night with the Bakersfield Condors". All attendees who presented a valid military I.D. (active or retired) received up to 6 complementary terrace level tickets for the game. Condor players wore jerseys which were auctioned off after the game. Each jersey commemorated the 10th Anniversary of  9-11 and recognition of Seal Team Six. All proceeds benefited the Wounded Heroes Fund. Visit www.BakersfieldCondors.com for more Condors information.
